Mass payments: sending many international payouts in a single batch
Ocean Capital Exchange helps businesses plan repeat overseas payout runs with one dedicated contact for currencies, funding and payment queries. A supported batch process can reduce manual entry and consolidate reporting; the provider confirms the format, routes and checks for your beneficiaries.
Definition
What mass payments are
Mass payments are a batch payment process in which a business submits many beneficiary payments together, funds the total once and the partner converts and distributes each payment.
The value lies in process: fewer manual entries, one funding transfer and consolidated reporting.
Each payment in a batch is still an individual international payment, subject to its own route, charges and checks.

Due diligence
What partners assess
Bulk payouts attract additional scrutiny:
- Business model
- Why and to whom you pay at volume.
- Beneficiary verification
- How you know who your payees are.
- Volumes and corridors
- Number, size and destinations of payments.
- Controls
- How batches are approved internally.
Information often requested
- Certificate of incorporation or equivalent registration *non-UK only
- Identification for directors and beneficial owners
- Proof of business address *non-UK only
- A description of expected payment volumes, currencies and counterparties
- A sample payment file or payee list
Each partner sets its own criteria, may ask for more information and can decline an application. We cannot confirm which partner, currencies or countries will be available to you until it has reviewed your business.
Pricing structure
Costs and settlement
Batch costs depend on the partner, currencies and payment count:

- Possible on SWIFT-routed payments.
- Platform fees
- Any subscription or integration charges in the partner's tariff.
Funding and release

- Failed payments are usually returned to your balance, possibly after conversion back.
- Cutoffs apply per currency.

Assumptions, and what this leaves out
- Every payment in the batch is the same size, in the same currency pair, at the same rate.
- Each payment's full amount is converted at the entered rate, which should include the FX margin.
- Real batches usually mix currencies, amounts and fee types; run each pair separately.
- No separate individual transfer fees are included; third-party or intermediary bank charges may apply and are excluded.
- Excluded: provider margin not reflected in your rate, intermediary or receiving-bank charges, card or platform fees, tax and any credit or margin calls.
Results are arithmetic on your inputs only. They are not a quote, an offer or advice, and no provider has priced them.

Mass payment questions
Still unsure? Call +44 20 7183 2026.
How many payments can a batch contain?
Your OCE account manager helps check the size and format of your payout run. The provider sets platform limits; confirm them before preparing a batch.
Can a batch include several currencies?
Often, where the partner supports them. Each currency is converted at its own rate.
What happens if one payment fails?
Usually only that payment fails and the funds are returned; the rest proceed.
Do I fund each payment separately?
No. You fund the batch total in one transfer.
Can I integrate with my systems?
Some partners offer file uploads or APIs. Confirm options during onboarding.
How are fees charged?
Ask OCE to help compare the batch quote, conversion margin, platform charges and any provider-specific costs. OCE does not typically charge individual transfer fees, but third-party or intermediary bank charges can apply. The standard calculator excludes these charges rather than promising a universally fee-free batch.
